DeepVeer’s Wedding- No More A Secret Affair!

After being together for 6 years, when they finally decided to become the man and wife, it was like witnessing a dream come true! Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone are all about love whenever they are seen together. And when their much-awaited wedding news was made official, literally everyone was blown out and just can’t wait for their big day. Here we bring you the complete story of the dream wedding; all the way from the land of dreams itself- Italy!

The Wedding Venue

Ranveer and Deepika announced their wedding details a month ago on their Instagram handles and chose to wed in Italy. When asked the reason behind it, Deepika answered that privacy was their main priority and when they went around, the place felt correct for them. They got married at Villa Del Balbianello at Lake Como in Italy.

Mehendi Ceremony

DeepVeer’s mehendi ceremony looked like an absolute reverie. They both were seen twinning in pink and red outfits from the house of Sabyasachi. While Deepika looked no less than a princess in a thread work bandh gala kurta, Ranveer looked the quirky groom in a cotton angrakha and an embroidered silk Bundi. Interestingly enough, Ranveer’s mehendi had the design of the diya, along with Deepika’s name! All the hearts for Ranveer!

*The power couple tied the knot twice; once in the accordance with the Konkani traditions and other as per the Sindhi rituals. *

The Konkani Wedding (Nov 14th)

The bride and groom looked unquestionably radiant in their ensembles. Deepika chose to wear a deep gold silk saree with shaded orange and red tones. She also wore a gorgeous white raw silk lehenga. Ranveer, on the other hand looked dapper in a white kurta and dhoti with gold work.

There are three main rituals in the Konkani wedding; The Udida Muhurat, The Tilak Ceremony and The Post-Wedding Meal.

This important Hindu ritual of the bride and groom putting a tilak on each other’s forehead is considered auspicious one, signifying the start of their new life together.

The Sindhi Wedding (Nov 15th)

Deepika Padukone opted for a decadent red Sabyasachi lehenga, complete with an embroidered veil that bore an incarnation, of which ‘Sada Saubhagyavati Bhava’ was visible on the border. And Singh complemented her in a vermillion Kanjeevaram sherwani. He also wore strings of large rubies and a jadau necklace. Padukone accessorised her lehenga with a maang tikka, traditional kaleere, a statement nose ring and several other rings.

The Anand Karaj Ceremony also took place and the couple looked as in love as can be. Holding the knot that ties them together for the four pheras and then doing the ardaas (the final prayer of the ceremony) seemed so blissful.

Bangalore Reception

The lavish reception took place at The Leela Palace on November 21st. Deepika chose to wear a gorgeous gold saree with an ivory blouse. She teamed up her outfit with an emerald choker and multi-layered pearl necklace. Ranveer looked handsome as ever in black bandh gala with golden embroidery.

Mumbai Wedding Party

For this event, Deepika chose to wear something unconventional. She was seen wearing a beautiful Sabyasachi lehenga with pink and red rose motifs and a plunging neckline. The groom, Ranveer wore a quirky outfit designed by Manish Arora. Though Deepika’s look for this event was criticised by many but she still pulled it up with all the grace and elegance.

Mumbai Reception Parties

For the first reception, Deepika donned an ivory and gold chikankari ensemble by the designer-duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla and accessorised her look with fine pearl and kundan necklace. Ranveer was dressed in a Rohit Bal couture creation of the same colour. He wore an intricately embroidered sherwani with an angrakha and draped it with heavily embroidered dupatta.

For the last and final reception, the couple ditched the traditional wear and switched on to western attires. While Ranveer opted for a black suit, Deepika went for a long thigh-high slit red gown. Their dressing gave a hint towards a theme-based party.
