The pithi ceremony

This ceremony is also known as the pithi ceremony. A mixture of turmeric(haldi), oil and water are applied to both the bride and the groom on the morning of their wedding day. The mixture is known to have properties that leave the skin fair and glowing.

The yellow colour indeed symbolises new beginnings, prosperity and happiness. The bride and groom are made to wear yellow coloured clothes to attract all the blessings and happiness. And too much yellow is never enough!
