The pithi ceremony
This ceremony is also known as the pithi ceremony. A mixture of turmeric(haldi), oil and water are applied to both the bride and the groom on the morning of their wedding day. The mixture is known to have properties that leave the skin fair and glowing.
The yellow colour indeed symbolises new beginnings, prosperity and happiness. The bride and groom are made to wear yellow coloured clothes to attract all the blessings and happiness. And too much yellow is never enough!
The haldi adds up charm to both the bride and the groom. Applying it to the couple is like spilling the love that knows no bound. This ceremony is considered very auspicious and also signifies protection from the evil.
